YOKAI TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
- After the tattoo is finished your artist will wash the tattoo and apply a clean bandage.
- You will be required to keep the tattoo bandage on for 2-6 hours as advised by your artist. In this time, you can ice your tattoo if it has become swollen. Wrap ice in a clean tea towel and place over the covered tattoo to relieve any swelling that may happen.
- After the amount of time requested, then remove the bandage and wash thoroughly with a mild/unscented soap and water. Make sure all blood and clear fluid is washed off.
- Pat the fresh tattoo with a clean paper towel – do not use a fabric towel. You do not want to rub a fresh tattoo for it may irritate your healing skin.
- Do not re-dress the tattoo. Let it breathe and begin to heal.
- Make sure to use clean bedding and wear clean clothing when healing. If you have pets, try to keep them off your clean bed because of pet hair/dander.
- Wash the tattoo a couple times daily until healed with a mild soap.
- Do not apply and creams/Vaseline, etc. You may apply unscented lotion after the 3rd day, and thereafter. Please use only a very small amount.
- As your tattoo heals it will become slightly itchy. Don’t worry, this is a normal part of the healing process. Be sure not to scratch at it or pick at any of the scabs that may have formed.
- When your tattoo when healing is susceptible to infection due to the fact that it is like an open wound. Take the proper steps to insure that you are protecting yourself from unwanted outside contaminants. Including but not limited to: pet hairs, dirty clothes, dirty work environment, etc.
- If for any reason you feel you are having an infection or you have any concerns during the healing process, contact us ASAP. If we need you to come in so we can see it, we will make always make time to see you and we can give you further instructions once we have spoken and seen what may be causing your concern.
- No working out or swimming for 2 weeks! The first two weeks are vital to healing, and proper care will make a lifetime of a difference.
